The Dynamic Islandfor Windows
A small island at the top of your screen for the music that's playing, what you copied, your timers and devices, and the coding agents waiting on you. Deal with them there, without switching windows.
- 01
Now Playing
Spotify, a browser, VLC, anything in Windows’ media controls. The artwork, a timeline you can scrub, the player’s own controls and the volume.
- 02
Clipboard history
Win+Alt+V brings back text with its formatting, images, files, links and colours. Type to search, Enter to paste. Anything that looks like a password or a key is never saved.
- 03
Timers
Win+Ctrl+T, then type how long: 10m tea, 90s, 1h30. They keep going through sleep and restarts, and the island opens with a sound when one ends.
> Run the tests and fix what fails ● I'll run the test suite first. ● Bash(npm test) ⎿ Waiting for permission… ⎿ 41 passed, 1 failed ✗ upload › retries a dropped chunk ● The retry fires again straight away, so the server turns it down. How should it wait? ⎿ Waiting for your answer… ⎿ Exponential backoff ● Here's the plan. ⎿ Waiting for approval… ● Update(src/upload.ts) ⎿ +12 −3 ● Bash(npm test) ⎿ 42 passed ● All 42 pass. The retry now backs off from 100 ms and gives up after five tries.

Answer your coding agents without switching windows
Claude wants to run npm test
A test fails, and it asks how to fix it
It writes a plan for you to approve
Fixed. All 42 tests pass
Each card says which session is asking and shows the full command. Anything that looks like a secret shows as dots, and a card never takes your keyboard by itself, so a stray Enter can't allow anything.
Clair de Lune · Claude Debussy
Out of your way
It keeps out of your tabs
Hidden until something needs you
A permission request brings it down
Push the pointer against the edge above it to bring it back
The rest of the top edge stays the browser’s
Appearance
Island or notch
Island floats just under the top of your screen; Notch joins it to the edge like a laptop's notch. Dark, light or following Windows, and the roundness, size and accent are yours.
Timers and reminders
Type “call mom at 6”
Win+Ctrl+T opens one field for timers, focus sessions, a stopwatch and reminders. It reads what you type and shows what Enter will do before you press it.
Everything else
Everything else it shows
Performance
It uses nothing while it waits
It follows Windows' own events and draws nothing while nothing moves. A native app, written in Rust.
Release build, three runs of 60 s per scene on a Ryzen 5 5600 with Windows 11. The island's own memory is about 57 MB at rest, most of it its graphics device and fonts.

Questions
Is ReUI really free?
Yes. It’s free and open source, under either the MIT License or the Apache License 2.0. There’s no account and no telemetry.
Why does Windows say “Windows protected your PC”?
Releases aren’t code-signed yet, so SmartScreen doesn’t know them. Choose More info, then Run anyway.
Does it need admin rights?
No. Setup installs ReUI for your user only, adds it to the Start menu and starts it with Windows.
Which versions of Windows does it run on?
Windows 11, or Windows 10 version 2004 or later, 64-bit.
Will it get in the way of my browser tabs?
Keep it hidden until something needs you: pushing the pointer against the top edge above it brings it back, and the rest of the edge stays the browser’s. It also hides while a game, video or presentation fills the screen, and you can give any app its own rule.
Which coding agents does it work with?
Claude Code, Codex and OpenCode. Connect them in Settings → Coding agents.
How does it update?
ReUI checks GitHub once a day. When a new version is out, Install downloads it, checks it against the release’s checksums and restarts ReUI. You can turn the check off.
How do I uninstall it?
Settings → Apps → Installed apps → ReUI → Uninstall. It puts back Windows’ volume pop-up, removes the hooks it installed, and asks whether to delete your data too.
